Being a movie fanatic I tend to not like waiting for the movie to be slowly released to cinema. Now your probably thinking I’m talking about some form of piracy that involves watching some poor quality video that is going to completly ruin the movie. Wrong! Not only can you see the movie before the release date but you can see the movie for free. Nope I didn’t stutter. For FREE! How could it be free? You ask. Well its a form of advertising, basically you're acting as "word of mouth" advertising. This generally only works well if the movie is actually good otherwise it will have adverse effect. Something also to be aware of is the heightened security. This is due to the fact that you might very well be one of the first in the world to see the movie. So your mobile will be confiscated before entry, don’t worry it can be picked up after the movie. However if you are caught try to record the movie in any way , shape or form. You will be removed from the cinema and you will lose your recording device. You may also be up for criminal charges involving the police. Not really worth it, just so you can give to other people online. Screw them, you got to see the movie. Security can sometimes even wear Night Vision googles.
Well due to the popularity of free, unreleased movies, every man and his dog wants in. But if your fast you will get a double pass to the movie.
Myspace Black Curtain Screenings
This is certainly my favourite for getting into advance screening. They always have blockbuster screenings and are generally on a Monday, 3 days before standard Australian release. These screenings generally start @ 6:00pm which makes it a little difficult for me as I finish work @ 5:30 on Monday.
How it works... First you must have a myspace account, then you must add the Black Curtain Screenings as a friend, they will eventually add you. The RSVP movie count down timer will generally be counting down to when you can RSVP. Make sure you remember the time it will expire. Once your in you will enter your mobile number and receive your ticket number via SMS. These screenings take place at random cinemas in capital cities in Australia (Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide.) Also in America as well.

See Film First
I’m new to this one, and there doesn’t appear to be much information on it.
How it works... Basically you register your details and according to your postcode you will be sent a code which you to input to the site should something close by become available to you. I’m assuming the first people to register the code first will be going to the event.

Radio Competitions
Yes an untapped resource I have been using for years. However due to the economic crisis everything seems stinted. No movies being made, no advertisers throwing away free stuff. Over the years I have won a trip to Japan (yep thats right from a radio competition), quite a few movie passes and event passes. Any most of these are online comps. So whilst your at work you simply enter in your details and bam – you have won yourself something cool. Heres a few Brisbane ones I use, check out your local radio station websites.

Birch Caroll and Coyle
Ok certainly the most expensive cinemas to attend, however the comfort, screen size and sound quality is top notch. Anyways for Cinebuzz members (free signup for the website) have access to regular discounted movies, competition and special events. Special events is what we’re interested in. All you have to is simply enter and they will email you tickets if you in. These events are rare but can be really good if you get in. Recently entered a comp to a mystery screening @ the end of April, I’m really hoping it’s Xmen Origins – Wolverine.
